Navigating Mini-Edition Home Pages
Each mini-edition has its own home page with links to various editorial components, to sponsors which support the editorial project, and to other information. Most of the links are intuitive. The major links include the following:
Navigating and Searching Links to this page which explains how to navigate in a mini-edition and how to search for information. Historical Introduction Links to an essay giving the historical context of the documents in a mini-edition. Documents Links to a table of contents of the documents in a mini-edition. Bibliography Links to a list of the books and articles cited in a mini-edition and to other sources of relevant information. Purpose of Mini-Edition Links to a brief description of how a mini-edition is organized and what the editors sought to demonstrate about how an electronic edition of documents might be created. Acknowledgments Links to a list of libraries and repositories which have given permission to use materials from their holdings.
Navigating Mini-Edition Tables of Contents
Expanding and Contracting a Table of Contents
The historical documents in a mini-edition are usually grouped in sections and sometimes into subsections. When the arrowhead points down, the section is open. When it points to the right, the section is closed. Click on the arrowheads to open and close sections.
You can also expand all of the sections or subsections by clicking on the "expand" button in the button bar at the the top of the screen. Each time you click, the table of contents expands a level.
Expanding the TOCYou can also collapse all of the sections or subsections by clicking on the "contract" button in the button bar at the the top of the screen. Each time you click, the table of contents contracts a level.

At the top and bottom of each document are three icons to help you move around. The
- left-pointing arrow moves to the previous document;
- the upward-pointing triangle, to the previous level of the table of contents;
- and the right-pointing arrow, to the next document.
Tip: Use your browser's "back" button to review documents you have already seen.
Navigating by the Button Bar

- This button will take you to the Model Editions Partnership's home page for the mini-editions.
- Go to list of collections

- The mini-editions are considered a collection. This button takes you to an alternate view of the collections.
- Go to table of contents

- This button takes you to a list of the collection titles on the Model Edtions Partnership Web server.
- Expand table of contents

- This button, when available as an option, will expand the table of contents of a document by one level. If the table of contents cannot be expanded any further, or if the user is viewing a page where a table of contents is not present, this button is unavailable ("grayed out").
- Contract table of contents

- This button, when available as an option, will contract the table of contents of a document by one level. If the table of contents cannot be contracted any further, or if the user is viewing a page where a table of contents is not present, this button is unavailable ("grayed out").
- Fill in search form

- This button is available when a custom search form has been defined for a particular image collection. This option is available only on the table of contents page for any particular document.
- Go to next hit

- When a search has been made, this button will move you forward through the "hits" which matched your search request.
- Go to previous hit

- When a search has been made, this button will move you backward through the "hits" which matched your search request.
- Cancel search

- This button cancels search results, removing search counts from table of contents entries and any highlighting of retrieved words. Only available after a search has been initiated.
